Tada 68 PRO. IS IT GOOD?

Though Maxkey and Akko had made a great product, there are a few things need to be made clear, this review is not sponsored, I paid a whopping RM550 from my own wallet. The first things you get are a keycap puller, the keyboard, some extra keycaps, cherry profile mind you and 1.5 mm thick. Braided cable and a sim removal tool (to turn on the Bluetooth function)…

The model I am specifically reviewing comes with MX silvers. And I will first say, damn these keycaps are really good especially with the included red Maxkey keycap. This keyboard allows for a Bluetooth pairing to 3 separate devices, from windows to IOS, so no device gets left behind. However one of the keycaps is confusing stating its profile 3 instead of profile 2 (R key). The included stabs aren’t lubed and is rattily, though not KBD75 rattily, but just rattily enough to annoy. But all in all its just your standard Tada 68 with Bluetooth fairings from pcb to backplate to genuine cherry stabs and switches, so its great right?

NO; first off the programming, Jesus me timbers, It’s disgraceful to call it programmable, the keyboard allows you to program any keys including macros, but it does not allow you to program more than 2 profiles and yes the second profile is tied to the Function key, media and some keys are not even in there. Like the print screen button which I see very useful in many situations. Next is the backlighting. The stock lighting is white only, and it is only on when it is plugged in, which makes the Anne Pro look like a major breakthrough even though all this keyboard will just need a bigger battery, which does not encompass the biggest problem I have with this keyboard. The Case, Holy Freaking Christ roger me with a wooden spoon with Andrew freaking Wiggin being drunk singing a terrible version of the ending of Konosuba. The case is just terrible, I admit the build quality is good though plastic which is 5 mm thick and it doesn’t come with a aluminium version that the original would come with at an extra cost, but who in the right mind thought, oh yeah lets make the case super angled and make a giant bump at the bottom of the case for the battery instead of making the case just flat. Put stubby plastic feet which aren’t screwed in, it’s fucking part of the case, and it isn’t at the edge of the case where it should be, in theory, the idea is that you will not get the hollow sound that many keyboards face, and yes it’s a good idea, but the execution is just frankly poor if not shit-tier since adding sound dampening foam would be cheaper and offset the cost of manufacture the mold for such a case in the first place. and on the point of feet can we all admit that flip up rubber tipped feet are practically perfect already, and just put them in instead? Rubber adhesive feet is just a band-aid solution to a pre-built keyboard almost like it’s an afterthought. Anyway, away from the bad points already and move on to the typing, and day to day usage. Honestly, it’s a good keyboard for what you get, the cherry profile keycaps is a great inclusion, you can tell it is because of the keycaps being shorter than oem. And they really are great. The 65% layout is a great compromise between a 60% and a 75% layout, I get a satisfying typing sound though not to the level of lubed linear NMB hi-tek space invaders. which reminds me of the next important part, the price. Honestly at MSRP of RM310.50, it’s a good value. From the dye sub cherry keycaps and the keyboard itself. But would I recommend it?

If they address my complaints such as the case design issue, I would highly recommend it, but as it is. The only great thing get out of it is a standard 65% layout that many would love and some hate, which will not rattle (Possibly) after you lubed it.
